Dictionary of Memes

Here is a mini dictionary of what these memes mean, and where they are most commonly used!

*Note: Not all of the memes mentioned here are in the blog and not all of the memes in the blog are on here. These are just some of our favorite ones!

*Note 2: Memes are meant to be funny and sarcastic :)

- Rage Faces
     - Most popular meme
     - Usually put into comics about day to day life and peoples reactions to them
     - There are hundreds of different "faces" and you'll find many of them on here

- "No" (Rage Face)

- Used in anger/ frustration over something
- Reflects the inward response of of someone who can't do this face physically, mainly because it draws some looks
- Usually is a response to when someone breaks a "rule of the internet"
     - "Rule No. 1: Don't talk about [cool things] on the internet, lest more people learn about it, making it uncool."

- The Spiderman Meme
- Based off of the 1960's TV show
- People take stills of the the show and add random captions to them
- No real theme, some are strange, but most are really funny

- GIFs

- These are small, animated clips
- Most common on blogging sites
- Used to express shock, excitement, extreme/comical depression
- Come from any number of TV shows or you tube clips

- This Ship
- A "ship" equals a relationship
- Said relationship is usually proposed by a blogger
   - Ex: Harry Potter +  Taylor Swift
- The Ship doesn't have to be real, or even possible
- Usually funny and/or slightly ironic and/or inflammatory

- The "#Fangirl"

Here are some symptoms of #FanGirl:
- Squealing
- Fanning the face
- Crying
- Passing out
- Squealing some more
- Pulling our hair
- Jumping up and down
- Clapping like seals
- Jumping fences
- Mobbing boy bands
- Making Facebook fan groups/dedication blogs/ homemade tshirts/ posters
- Staying up all night to finish a TV season
- Highly contagious

And since the internet is more or less anonymous, us Fan girls use memes such as the ones above to express our utter devotion and obsession with something (more commonly someone...)

- Animal Memes

- Single frame comics that revolve around an animal and a theme

AntiJoke Chicken
Starts with a joke, ends with something that destroys said joke

Patriotic Eagle
Self Explanatory... I guess Americans really like their freedom... :)

Philsoraptor
A dinosaur contemplating the "complexities" in life. Usually involves terrible puns...

- Challenge Accepted (Rage Face)

- A personal favorite of mine, this meme usually comes at the end of a Rage Face Comic
- Represents dedication or sometimes a statire on being dedicated.
- For example:
Teacher: Tonight for homework, you have 50 math problems
Student: Challenge Accepted
(Since the student is on the internet, chances are it won't be completed... That's why its funny. )
